Following our launch ten years ago, we are developing into one of the leading independent investment management businesses in the South West.  Hawksmoor’s Exeter office is looking to recruit a part-time HR Manager with experience, enthusiasm and dedication to support the continuing growth of our business.


HR Manager


The successful candidate will support our management team with a timely professional, commercial and effective HR service whilst eliminating business risks through the application of legal knowledge and Company Procedures.


You will be CIPD Certified and have worked in HR at management level, ideally with experience of working for an investment-related financial services business.  In addition, the right candidate will be enthusiastic, committed, flexible and adaptable, have a meticulous eye for detail, a good degree of numeracy, very good communication skills (both written and spoken) and the ability to work successfully in a close-knit team.


Basic working hours are 18.75 per week over three to five days (with flexibility for which days Monday to Friday, but once agreed to be fixed each week).

Main Tasks


To be responsible for all Hawksmoor’s Human Resources functions, including:


  • Recruitment process – identification of candidates, liaison with agencies, interviews, correspondence, new staff paperwork (including FCA Approved Person Applications and due diligence on supporting documents, Confidentiality Letters, Inductions, references, Contracts of Employment, probationary periods, etc);
  • Dealing with matters such as, back to work interviews, exit interviews, grievance meetings, disciplinary meetings, etc;
  • Payroll – liaison with payroll provider with changes/additions to monthly payroll, checking of payroll reports, etc;
  • Management of payments to providers for Childcare Vouchers, Cyclescheme, Charities and other relationships as they arise and obtaining signed Salary Sacrifice Agreements, etc;
  • Pension – issuing auto-enrolment letters, checking pension contributions, overseeing the Hawksmoor Workplace Pension, etc;
  • Ensuring all paperwork is issued, returned and filed for Annual and Mid Year Performance & Development Reviews;
  • Regulatory Training & Competence matters (working with the Compliance Team);
  • Ensuring HR forms and procedures are current, implementing new policies/forms where required;
  • Maintaining information on the HROnline System, including holidays and absences;
  • Dealing with ad hoc job applications/work experience enquiries, etc;
  • Provision of information for Work Experience individuals;
  • Dealing with general HR queries.




– At least‘A’ level standard, with at least grade B in GCSE English & Maths

– CIPD Certified
